The Multi Screen series was the most innovative and longest-running of all Game & Watch product lines. Launched in 1982, it introduced a clamshell form factor with two separate LCD screens — a direct conceptual forefather of the Nintendo DS. The series ran until 1989 and featured 15 distinct titles.
The dual-screen format allowed for far more complex game designs than were previously possible. Donkey Kong, the series' flagship launch title, successfully translated the arcade classic to handheld format across two LCD panels. Later entries like Oil Panic, Zelda, and Mario Bros pushed the format even further.
