The Gold series followed directly on from the Silver series, debuting in 1981 with a refined golden colour scheme. The series comprises three games, each building on the design language established by the Silver series while introducing more varied gameplay scenarios.
Gold units are distinguished by their golden-coloured plastic casing. The series was produced during Nintendo's most aggressive period of Game & Watch expansion, and the games benefit from the experience accumulated during the Silver series.
